the femme mystique (ha!)

--

the anti-feminist feminist

It's always in my nature to say really, really controversial things that might in fact anger mass quantities of gun-toting people.
But, we're diaryland, so that really doesn't matter.
What I find amusing is the gargantuan! amount of feminist webzines on Al Gore's prolific internet. A girlfriend and I were discussing the other night how we'd like to see a webzine that portrayed real women, and we would interview the ever-fabulous Jennifer and Tiffany Jordan , as well as the vodka-wielding, leather-booted sweet tart otherwise known as Hepzibah Sessa. Without Hep, there would be no Recoil, and that would piss off a lot of elitist scum on Shunt. ;)
These women are not afraid to be actual women. These women shave their legs and run marathons and do their nails and teach themselves C++. These women are real women.

I am beyond the (as Kelliejane Adan so aptly described) "celeb licking, society cock hungry rags not fit to hurl at a Limited sales girl" topic. We all are. I am talking about the girls on the OTHER end of the spectrum. I am talking about the girls who are not really women, but womyn, for chrissakes, the womyn who feel they must rise above men because of being oppressed for so many years.
It is not degrading to suck cock, ladies. It is not degrading to get on your knees and take a penis lovingly into your mouth. Who do you think has the upper hand here, anyway? Who do you think has the power, with that throbbing member pulsating between her lips? It ain't the penis, that's for sure!

I am not a Lilith Fair chick.
I do not own a guitar or a nose-ring.
I am not a full-fledged member of the dyke society.
I am a biased rock chick.
I am not afraid of liking glitter.
There is nothing hardcore about Ani DiFranco. (no offence, Ani, I mean, don't hurt me). There is nothing emotive about Fiona Apple. The wrong kinds of women are taking over the music industry and it's wearing thin. We've done an incredible 360 spin, from the big-rock sleaze hair boys with Playboy models in their videos to the "womyn" who are afraid to be "women"! I am talking about the female spectre! SPECTRE! Not a spectrum, where your viewpoint narrows to one detailed picture of the wrong instance portraying women!
Real women know how to suck cock and cook and write music! Real women, as KJ described, can wield the eye-liner pencil AND the sword! We do our make-up and fix our cars! What is wrong with this? Why do we have to be one stereotype? Why can't we be irritated and happy at all once? WHY ARE YOU FUCKERS STARING AT ME LIKE THAT!
Real women are Diamanda Galas and Maggie Estep. Real women are not one thing, but many. Real women are the spectre.
And it takes a real fucking woman to realise this, also.
